David Du Plessis

They Called Him, "Mr. Pentecost"

Smith Wigglesworth prophesied to David in 1936 that God would one day use him to bring a renewed understanding of the baptism in the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts to the old-line denominations and to the Roman Catholic Church.  The Lord fulfilled this prophetic word beginning in the 1950s, opening doors for David to minister in these circles, thus birthing a new move of God. That move was called the Charismatic Renewal.  Members of the old-line denominational churches and the Roman Catholic Church came to so love and appreciate Du Plessis for ministering to them, that they gave him the affectionate title of "Mr. Pentecost."

Healing Ministry and the Gifts

Why healings and miracles have become less common in Charismatic churches.  Copyrighted Recording Length:  82 minutes.

Drawing from his experiences of being filled with the Spirit in the early 1900s, David that healing began to wane when Christians quit praying for the sick and left it up to traveling healing evangelists.  He states, "Everyone who got healed, became a healer and began to minister to others . . . And I think sometimes we would keep our healing if we would witness more about it, and get others healed. Just like we would keep our Pentecostal experience if we would keep witnessing about it and keep praying in tongues. Then we would hold on to the blessing. Oh yes, we certainly were tongues speakers and healers . . .We never had any idea of healing evangelists in those days--we didn't need them. Everybody was a healer."  He answers a question or two and prays at the end of this recording. Then some additional comments are tacked on to the end.

The most intelligent teaching I have ever heard on the subject of how to stir up the gift of God within you.  Copyrighted Recording Length:  49 minutes.

This is the most intelligent teaching I've ever heard on how to stir up the gift of God within you.  David begins by dealing with the prophetic excess which he had seen take place in 1928, 1958, that parallel what we see commonly occur today.  Then David differentiates between spiritual gifts, ministry gifts, and the gift of God that is within you, and tells you how to stir up the gift of God that is within you.
